Somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) is a G protein-coupled receptor that mediates the inhibitory effects of somatostatin on hormone secretion, cell proliferation, and neurotransmission. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against SSTR2 and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows across human, mouse, and rat sample types.

Provided as an unconjugated reagent in a 100 ul vial, the antiserum recognizes native and denatured SSTR2. The unconjugated format allows researchers to pair it with custom detection chemistries, including HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents. Its cross-species reactivity profile supports studies that compare receptor distribution between rodent models and human tissues, including neuroendocrine tumor specimens, pancreatic islets, and central nervous system sections.

Recommended applications include western blot analysis of receptor expression in transfected cell lines and primary tissue lysates, as well as immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections. For IHC, antigen retrieval in citrate buffer pH 6.0 is commonly used, with detection via standard HRP/DAB systems. Storage at 4 degrees C is recommended for short-term use; for longer storage, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
