The Antibodies.com Anti-SSBP2 polyclonal antibody is a rabbit-hosted primary reagent raised against Single-Stranded DNA Binding Protein 2, a mitochondrial nucleic-acid-binding factor implicated in mtDNA maintenance and in transcriptional co-regulation through its association with the LSD1-CoREST-HDAC chromatin-modifying complex. Supplied at 1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, the unconjugated IgG preparation is packaged as a 100 µl single-use vial and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows. Reactivity has been confirmed in Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, supporting translational studies that span cell-line models, rodent tissues, and patient-derived specimens.
SSBP2 is best known in the literature for its role in normal hematopoiesis and for its recurrent involvement in myeloid neoplasms, where chromosomal rearrangements can produce SSBP2 fusion transcripts documented in acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. Investigators therefore use the reagent to probe mitochondrial single-stranded DNA-binding activity, to characterize LSD1-CoREST complex composition in chromatin immunoprecipitation lysates, and to screen archival bone-marrow biopsies by IHC alongside western blot confirmation of protein expression.
For Western blot, a working concentration in the 1-2 µg/ml range is a common starting point with HRP-conjugated secondary detection; for IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin sections, heat-induced epitope retrieval in citrate buffer pH 6.0 is typically used prior to overnight primary incubation. Aliquot on receipt and store the vial at -20°C to limit freeze-thaw cycles; the sodium azide in the formulation protects against microbial contamination during short-term 4°C handling. Research use only.
