This rabbit polyclonal IgG antibody from Antibodies.com targets SRSF protein kinase 1 (SRPK1), a constitutively active kinase that phosphorylates serine/arginine dipeptide repeats on SR family splicing factors to regulate constitutive and alternative pre-mRNA splicing. The unconjugated reagent is supplied as 50 µl of polyclonal antiserum raised in rabbit, validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows across human, mouse, and rat samples. SRPK1 is widely studied for coupling chromatin remodeling with spliceosome assembly, controlling cell cycle progression through SR protein phosphorylation, and acting as a driver of aberrant splicing in hepatocellular carcinoma, breast cancer, and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, where it also regulates VEGF isoform balance during tumor angiogenesis. Virology groups use the same reagent to examine how SRPK1 supports replication of hepatitis B virus and herpes simplex virus through phosphorylation of viral or host SR proteins. Resolving whole-cell lysates on SDS-PAGE reveals the kinase near its expected molecular weight of approximately 95 kDa by western blot; for immunohistochemistry, antigen retrieval on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections is recommended to expose phosphorylated SR substrates in tumor specimens. As an unconjugated IgG, the reagent pairs with secondary antibodies of choice, including HRP, Alexa Fluor, and biotin conjugates selected to match the application. Aliquot upon arrival and store refrigerated in working volumes to minimize freeze-thaw cycles, and protect fluorescent secondaries from prolonged light exposure during downstream handling.
