Anti-SPTLC1 Antibody

A polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets SPTLC1, the long-chain subunit 1 of serine palmitoyltransferase, the endoplasmic reticulum enzyme that catalyzes the rate-limiting first step of de novo sphingolipid biosynthesis by condensing L-serine with palmitoyl-CoA. Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated IgG, the reagent is validated for Western blot and is reactive with human and mouse samples, supporting studies of membrane lipid metabolism, myelin biology, and the pathogenesis of hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy type 1 (HSAN1), which is caused by gain-of-function mutations in SPTLC1 that misdirect substrate preference toward L-alanine.

The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of recognizing multiple epitopes, and the unconjugated IgG isotype allows pairing with a wide choice of secondary detection reagents.
