The SPN gene encodes CD43 (leukosialin), a heavily sialylated transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of most hematopoietic cells, including thymocytes, mature T lymphocytes, granulocytes, monocytes, and selected B cell subsets. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the SPN protein for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human samples, supporting studies of leukocyte biology, T cell signaling, and investigations into disorders such as Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, where CD43 shows characteristic mislocalization away from the immunological synapse.

Each vial contains 100 µl of antibody at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, with the glycerol providing cryoprotection during frozen storage. Researchers apply this reagent to characterize CD43 expression patterns in lymphoid tissues, to probe changes in leukosialin distribution under inflammatory or immunodeficient conditions, and to distinguish T cell populations in tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte studies, where altered CD43 glycosylation has been reported as a marker of activation state.
