This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets SPINK1 (serine peptidase inhibitor Kazal type 1), a secreted serine protease inhibitor best known for protecting the pancreas from premature trypsin activation and now widely studied as a susceptibility gene in hereditary pancreatitis. Raised in rabbits and supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a 100 µl aliquot, the reagent is unconjugated, giving laboratories freedom to choose HRP, biotin, or fluorophore secondary reporters that match their existing detection chemistry. Validation data supplied with the antibody cover two complementary readouts: Western blot on human cell lysates under reducing conditions, and immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue sections, where labeling is observed in the cytoplasm of pancreatic acinar cells and a range of epithelial tumors that re-express SPINK1. Reactivity is reported for human SPINK1; cross-reactivity against mouse or rat SPINK1 has not been independently confirmed in the supplied product validation. For best stability, the glycerol-containing stock should be stored frozen at -20 °C in single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, with thawed working aliquots kept refrigerated and used within a few weeks. Investigators apply this reagent to studies of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, acinar cell injury, gastric and intestinal epithelial barrier biology, and other SPINK1-overexpressing tumor models, using Western blot to quantify protein levels and IHC to map expression across tissue microarrays.
