SPINK1 (Serine Peptidase Inhibitor, Kazal Type 1) is a low-molecular-weight serine protease inhibitor best characterized for its protective role in the pancreas, where it prevents premature intra-acinar trypsinogen activation. Variants in the SPINK1 gene are among the most consistently replicated genetic risk factors for hereditary and idiopathic chronic pancreatitis, and altered expression has been documented in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma as well as extra-pancreatic epithelial tumors including hepatocellular and gastric carcinoma. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 100 µl liquid aliquot and has been validated for Western blot detection of endogenous SPINK1 in human and mouse lysates. Because the antibody is unconjugated, it can be paired with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents for chemiluminescent or fluorescent immunoblotting on nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes. Each preparation is affinity-purified and quality-controlled for target specificity, providing a practical reagent for research on pancreatic injury, pancreatitis susceptibility, and the broader balance between secreted serine proteases and their endogenous inhibitors in epithelial biology.
