Sphingosine kinase 2 (SphK2) is a lipid kinase that catalyzes the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of sphingosine, generating the bioactive lipid mediator sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P). S1P signals through a family of G protein-coupled receptors and governs proliferation, survival, migration, and inflammatory responses across many cell types. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent targets SphK2 in human, mouse, and rat samples.

SphK2 has a distinctive subcellular distribution relative to its paralog SphK1, localizing to the cytoplasm, nucleus, and inner mitochondrial membrane, where it contributes to histone acetylation and to the regulation of cellular sphingolipid pools. Because of those features, SphK2 is studied extensively in cancer biology, cardiovascular and metabolic disease research, and in models of inflammation and immune cell trafficking.

Shipped at 100 µL per vial, the antibody is suitable for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA workflows. Aliquot on receipt and store at -20°C; protect from repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve titer for downstream immunodetection. Refer to Antibodies.com for the latest validation data, recommended starting dilutions, and supporting references.
