This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets sphingosine kinase 1 (SPHK1), a lipid kinase that catalyzes the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of sphingosine to generate sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P). S1P acts both as an intracellular second messenger and as an extracellular ligand for a family of G-protein-coupled receptors, regulating proliferation, survival, cytoskeletal remodeling, immune cell egress, and vascular maturation, which is why SPHK1 is studied in cancer biology, inflammatory signaling, and vascular biology programs.

Supplied as 100 µL at 1 mg/mL in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the unconjugated antibody is suited to western blot detection of endogenous SPHK1, immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue sections, and immunofluorescence for subcellular localization studies. The antibody has been validated against human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling cross-species comparison in cell line panels and primary tissue cohorts. Storage at -20°C is recommended; for frequent use, aliquoting helps preserve activity, and the glycerol-containing buffer protects against repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Because SPHK1 levels and activity are frequently compared between normal and diseased states, this reagent supports assays that quantify expression changes in tumor lysates, characterize tissue distribution in inflamed or fibrotic tissue, and map kinase localization by microscopy. Researchers working on S1P metabolism, sphingolipid pathway inhibitors, or receptor signaling use the unconjugated format when designing custom detection strategies or paired primary combinations.
