From Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes SPAM1 (Sperm Adhesion Molecule 1), also called PH-20 hyaluronidase, a GPI-anchored enzyme on the sperm surface that disperses the cumulus-oocyte complex by depolymerizing hyaluronic acid during fertilization. The unconjugated reagent is supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, a buffer combination that supports storage at -20°C, protection from light, and stability across multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

Validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence on human tissues and cell preparations, the polyclonal antibody binds multiple epitopes across the SPAM1 ectodomain, supporting detection on denatured membrane-bound targets as well as fixed specimens. In reproductive biology, it is applied to studies of sperm capacitation, acrosomal exocytosis, and hyaluronidase-mediated penetration of the cumulus layer. The reagent has also been used in published work examining aberrant SPAM1 re-expression in carcinoma cell lines, including breast and prostate cancer models where hyaluronidase activity contributes to extracellular matrix remodeling.

For best results, aliquot the vial upon first thaw and store working portions at -20°C; the 50% glycerol cryoprotectant preserves activity between uses when samples are kept cold and shielded from light. Each vial is intended for research use only and has not been validated for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
