Superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) is a 16 kDa copper- and zinc-binding enzyme that converts superoxide radicals into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen, and it is widely studied in models of oxidative stress, neurodegeneration, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
