This polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com targets superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1), the cytosolic copper-zinc enzyme that converts superoxide radicals into oxygen and hydrogen peroxide as a frontline defence against oxidative stress. Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated reagent, it is validated for Western blot and ELISA workflows and shows reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.

SOD1 is one of the most studied proteins in neurodegeneration research because dominantly inherited point mutations such as G93A, G37R, and A4V destabilise the SOD1 dimer and underpin the transgenic mouse models used to investigate motor neuron disease. The same target is widely cited in oxidative-stress, ischaemia-reperfusion, and ageing research, where endogenous SOD1 levels are quantified by immunoblotting or ELISA after cell lysis or tissue homogenisation.

Because the reagent is unconjugated, it can be paired with HRP, fluorescent, or biotin-labelled secondaries, allowing the same vial to move between chemiluminescent Western blots, immunofluorescence imaging, and ELISA plates. Storing refrigerated in single-use aliquots preserves activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
