Anti-SNCG Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets SNCG (synuclein gamma, also called gamma-synuclein and BCSG1), a member of the synuclein family implicated in advanced-stage breast cancer, ovarian carcinoma, and certain neurodegenerative processes. The antibody is supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated antiserum and has been validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows in human, mouse, and rat samples.

Endogenous SNCG expression is largely restricted to peripheral nervous system tissue and select neuronal populations under normal conditions, but the protein becomes pathologically upregulated in aggressive carcinomas and has been studied as a candidate biomarker for tumor progression. This makes the reagent useful for oncology research, biomarker validation, and investigations into synucleinopathy mechanisms. The polyclonal format recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can be advantageous when working with formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections or denatured lysates where single-epitope clones may underperform.

Researchers generally titrate the antibody across a dilution series for each application, starting with more concentrated preparations for immunohistochemistry and more dilute preparations for Western blot detection. The vial should be refrigerated for short-term use, or aliquoted and stored at -20°C for longer-term stability; repeated freeze-thaw cycles reduce antibody activity.
