The target protein SMYD2 is a SET and MYND domain-containing lysine methyltransferase that catalyzes methylation of histone H3 at lysine 36 (H3K36) and several non-histone substrates including p53, Rb, and HSP90, with established roles in transcription regulation, chromatin modification, and tumor biology research.

This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated reagent in a vial, validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows. The reagent reacts with samples of human, mouse, and rat origin, supporting cross-species detection in basic and translational studies. Storage at -20°C in working aliquots is recommended to preserve activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles, and the product is labeled for research use only.

For western blot, the antibody detects endogenous SMYD2 in whole-cell lysates; for IHC, it is applied to formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections to map SMYD2 expression in tumor and matched normal tissue. Investigators studying epigenetic regulation, lysine methylation, and oncology-relevant signaling pathways can use this reagent to track SMYD2 abundance and subcellular localization.
