SMYD1 (SET and MYND domain-containing protein 1) is a muscle-restricted lysine methyltransferase that methylates histone H3 at lysine 4 along with non-histone substrates, playing a well-documented role in skeletal muscle differentiation, sarcomere assembly, and embryonic cardiac development. This unconjugated mouse monoclonal IgG antibody, raised against rat SMYD1 and supplied by Antibodies.com, is validated for Western blot detection of endogenous SMYD1 protein in rodent samples. Packaged as a 200 µl vial, the reagent is suited to immunoblotting of cardiac and skeletal muscle tissue homogenates and primary cardiomyocyte lysates, supporting studies of cardiac hypertrophy, muscle regeneration, and contractile gene regulation in rat model systems. The IgG isotype and unconjugated format allow flexible pairing with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents, while the rat-specific reactivity extends applicability to rodent models of cardiovascular and neuromuscular disease. For best results, aliquot upon arrival to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect from light during prolonged storage.
