The SMPX protein (Small Muscle Protein, X-linked) is a cytoskeletal component expressed in skeletal muscle fibers and in the mechanosensory hair cells of the inner ear, where loss-of-function mutations cause the X-linked deafness form DFNX4. This Antibodies.com reagent is a rabbit polyclonal IgG raised against human SMPX and supplied as an unconjugated 200 µl liquid aliquot, allowing direct use in Western blot to resolve the endogenous protein band and in immunofluorescence to localize SMPX at focal adhesion sites and along actin stress fibers in fixed cells.

Cross-reactivity with Mouse and Rat orthologs extends the reagent to rodent injury models, including noise-induced or ototoxic hair-cell damage paradigms and skeletal-muscle regeneration studies. For Western blot, lysates prepared in standard RIPA buffer and separated on SDS-PAGE typically yield a band near the predicted molecular weight, while immunofluorescence on paraformaldehyde-fixed cells is supported with standard detergent permeabilization. The unconjugated format permits downstream labeling with HRP, fluorophore, or biotin tags to match the assay system. Aliquoting upon receipt and storage at -20 °C preserves activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles, and the reagent is intended for research use only.
