Raised in rabbit against the SMPX (Small Muscle Protein, X-linked) target, this unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human samples. SMPX is a small cytoskeletal-associated protein predominantly expressed in striated muscle and in the sensory hair cells of the inner ear, where it has been studied in the context of X-linked non-syndromic hearing loss and muscle fiber integrity. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, supporting storage at -20 degrees C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycling of the parent vial. Investigators commonly deploy it to probe SMPX localization in skeletal and cardiac muscle cryosections by IHC, to assess expression levels in cell lysates by WB, and to map hair-cell distribution patterns in cochlear tissue by IF. Polyclonal reactivity broadens epitope coverage across the SMPX protein, which can be useful when a single linear determinant is altered or masked by sample processing. Unconjugated presentation lets the end user select any secondary reporter system, from HRP for chromogenic western blot to fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG for multiplex immunofluorescence panels. The 1 mg/ml concentration in 50% glycerol also makes the stock convenient for direct dilution into blocking buffer for staining protocols.
