Anti-SMPD2 Antibody

The Antibodies.com polyclonal reagent targets SMPD2, the membrane-bound neutral sphingomyelinase 2 (nSMase2) that catalyzes hydrolysis of sphingomyelin into ceramide and phosphocholine. Raised in rabbit, the antibody is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml solution in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, supporting convenient handling and minimizing repeated freeze-thaw exposure.

SMPD2 is widely studied in ceramide-mediated signaling, exosome biogenesis, and cellular stress responses. Validated applications include Western blot for monitoring SMPD2 levels in transfected cell lines and primary tissues, and immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections from human, mouse, and rat samples. Reactivity has been verified across all three species, supporting comparative work in rodent models and human specimens.

The unconjugated format gives researchers flexibility to pair the antibody with their preferred secondary detection systems, including HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG. Aliquots can be prepared upon arrival to preserve activity across multiple experiments.
