Affinity-purified polyclonal reagent raised in rabbit against Survival Motor Neuron 2 (SMN2), the paralog whose C-to-T transition in exon 7 drives predominantly truncated, exon-7-skipped transcripts central to spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) research. The unconjugated antibody recognizes the full-length SMN2 isoform migrating at approximately 38 kDa on western blot and produces cytoplasmic staining in immunohistochemistry (IHC), supporting exon 7 inclusion studies in patient-derived fibroblasts, motor neuron cultures, and antisense-oligonucleotide-treated disease models. Reactivity has been validated across human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling translational work in rodent SMA phenotypes and human iPSC-derived motor neuron lines. Each vial from Antibodies.com contains 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide as preservative and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant; aliquot upon arrival and store at -20 °C, holding working aliquots at 4 °C for short-term use and protecting from repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The reagent supports immunoblotting of total SMN protein levels, IHC localization in spinal cord and skeletal muscle sections, and characterization of splicing regulators that modulate SMN2 exon 7 inclusion.
