A mouse monoclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com raised against the C-terminus of human SMC1A, the 1233-amino-acid cohesin subunit encoded on Xp11.22 that holds sister chromatids together after DNA replication. SMC1A is phosphorylated by ATM kinase at Ser957 and Ser966 during the DNA double-strand break response, and loss-of-function mutations in this gene cause Cornelia de Lange syndrome type 2. Researchers studying chromosome segregation, X-linked cohesinopathies, or ATM-dependent repair signaling can use this reagent to probe endogenous SMC1A levels.

Validated for Western blot on human samples, the antibody is supplied as 100 µl of purified IgG in 0.1 M Tris-Glycine buffer at pH 7.4 with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol. The unconjugated format allows flexible secondary labeling, and aliquots should be stored frozen with minimal freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity given the azide-containing buffer formulation.
