Anti-Smad3 (phospho-S204) Antibody

From Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal antibody is raised against Smad3 phosphorylated at Serine 204. The immunogen is a synthetic phosphopeptide derived from human Smad3 around the phosphorylation site of Serine 204, and the reagent specifically detects endogenous levels of Smad3 only when phosphorylated at this residue. It is unconjugated and supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 15 mM sodium azide, at approximately pH 7.2. The antibody has been affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using the epitope-specific immunogen. It is validated for use in Western Blot (WB) and reacts with Human, Mouse and Rat samples, with an expected molecular weight of approximately 48 and 55 kDa. Smad proteins are the mammalian homologs of the Drosophila "mothers against decapentaplegic" (Mad) protein and have been implicated as downstream effectors of TGFβ/BMP signaling. Smad1 (also designated Madr1 or JV4-1) and Smad5 are effectors of BMP-2 and BMP-4 function, while Smad2 (also designated Madr2 or JV18-1) and Smad3 are involved in TGFβ- and activin-mediated growth modulation. Smad4 (also designated DPC4) mediates these activities through interaction with various Smad family members, while Smad6 and Smad7 regulate the response to activin/TGFβ signaling by interfering with TGFβ-mediated phosphorylation of other Smad proteins.
