This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets the N-terminal region of Smad3 (epitope at residue 175), a key intracellular mediator of TGF-β signaling. Supplied by Antibodies.com in unconjugated form, the reagent is provided at 1 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, packaged as 100 µl per vial.

The antibody has been validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry (IHC) applications and detects Smad3 in human, mouse, and rat samples. It is commonly used to follow Smad3 activation downstream of TGF-β receptor signaling, including studies of epithelial–mesenchymal transition, fibrotic tissue remodeling, and receptor-driven transcriptional responses. As an unconjugated rabbit polyclonal, the reagent is compatible with secondary-detection workflows such as HRP- or fluorophore-labeled anti-rabbit reagents and with custom conjugation in the lab.

For handling, aliquot the 1 mg/ml stock upon first use to minimize repeated freeze-thaw cycles and store frozen at -20°C in working aliquots. The concentrated format supports dilution series for optimization across PVDF or nitrocellulose membranes and paraffin or frozen tissue sections. Sodium azide, included as a preservative, permits short-term handling at 4°C but should be removed by buffer exchange before any application involving live cells.
