Produced by Antibodies.com as a rabbit polyclonal reagent, this primary antibody targets Smad3, a receptor-regulated SMAD protein that transmits TGF-beta and activin signals from the cell surface into the nucleus. The antibody recognizes an epitope surrounding methionine 200 of human Smad3 (also known as hMAD-3 or JV15-2), enabling studies of canonical SMAD-mediated transcription linked to fibrosis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and inflammatory gene programs.

The unconjugated reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, and is validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows. It cross-reacts with Smad3 from human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative work in cell-line and tissue models of TGF-beta signaling. The 50 µl pack size is appropriate for screening blots and limited IHC panels. The sodium azide preservative allows the antibody to be kept refrigerated for routine short-term use, and is compatible with common HRP- and alkaline-phosphatase-based detection systems.
