Anti-Smad2 (Ab-467) Antibody

Raised in rabbit and purified by affinity chromatography against an epitope-specific peptide, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is directed against Smad2 at the region surrounding amino acids 463–467 (C-S-S-M-S) of the human protein. It is supplied at a concentration of 1.0 mg/mL in a 50 µl aliquot of phosphate-buffered saline (without Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺), pH 7.4, containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, and is unconjugated so that it can be paired with the secondary detection system of the researcher's choice. The antibody is of the Rabbit IgG isotype and was generated by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide coupled to KLH, with specificity confirmed for the detection of endogenous levels of total Smad2 protein. It has been validated for Western blotting (WB) and immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence (ICC/IF) applications and shows reactivity with Human, Mouse and Rat samples, making it suitable for cross-species studies of TGF-β/activin signalling where Smad2 acts as a receptor-regulated transcriptional modulator. The product is shipped at 4 °C; upon receipt it should be aliquoted and stored at –20 °C, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve activity.
