Anti-SLPI Antibody

A rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets SLPI and is supplied in unconjugated format. The reagent reacts with mouse samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot applications. It was raised against a 17 amino acid peptide corresponding to a region near the center of mouse SLPI and is affinity chromatography purified via a peptide column. The antibody is formulated in phosphate-buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide, shipped at 4°C, and upon delivery should be aliquoted and stored at -20°C, with freeze/thaw cycles avoided.

SLPI, or secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor, is a ~14 kDa non-glycosylated protein expressed by secretory cells in the respiratory, genital and lachrymal glands, as well as by macrophages, B-cells and neutrophils. The protein inhibits protease activity at sites of inflammation, helping to protect tissues from protease-mediated damage, and has been reported to possess anti-microbial and anti-viral activity. In addition, SLPI has been described as exhibiting anti-inflammatory properties through regulation of lipopolysaccharide-induced activation of NF-kappa beta in peripheral blood monocytes.
