Targeting the SLC4A4-encoded electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 100 µl aliquot of unconjugated rabbit antiserum validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples.
SLC4A4 is most prominently expressed in kidney proximal tubules and pancreatic ducts, where it mediates sodium-coupled bicarbonate transport, and it is also detected in certain neuronal and ocular tissues. Investigators working on proximal renal tubular acidosis, pancreatic ductal secretion, or central nervous system pH regulation use this reagent to localize NBCe1 in fixed tissue sections and to detect the transporter by western blot. The polyclonal backbone recognizes several epitopes on SLC4A4, which is helpful when probing the three major NBCe1 splice variants — A, B, and C isoforms. Standard experimental workflows include probing formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections for immunohistochemistry and resolving whole-cell lysates on SDS-PAGE for western blot, where NBCe1 migrates at approximately 120 kDa.
