Targeted to the G17 epitope of SLC38A3, this unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com supports Western blot detection of the sodium-coupled neutral amino acid transporter across human, mouse, and rat samples. SLC38A3 (also known as SNAT3 and SN1) is a plasma membrane transporter that uses Na+ co-transport and H+ counter-transport to move glutamine, histidine, and asparagine, and it is predominantly expressed in brain astrocytes where it sustains the glutamate–glutamine cycle that replenishes synaptic neurotransmitter pools. The polyclonal host response enables recognition of multiple epitopes on the target transporter, helping to resolve clear bands from membrane-associated fractions of brain, liver, kidney, or retinal tissue lysates. Supplied as 50 µl of antiserum, the reagent should be stored at -20°C with freeze-thaw cycles avoided to preserve antibody activity. Investigators probing nitrogen metabolism, astrocyte–neuron signaling, or models of developmental and epileptic encephalopathy can apply this reagent to tissue homogenates and cultured cell extracts to track endogenous transporter levels under physiological and disease conditions.
