This rabbit polyclonal reagent recognizes human SLC22A8, the polyspecific organic anion transporter also known as OAT3. SLC22A8 sits on the basolateral membrane of proximal tubule epithelial cells in the kidney cortex, where it clears drugs, toxins, and metabolites from peritubular blood, and it is also found in the choroid plexus, where it participates in organic anion exchange at the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier.

Research uses include mapping OAT3 expression in human kidney biopsy material, characterizing drug-drug interactions at the renal organic anion transport system, and studying clearance of uremic retention solutes and neurotransmitter metabolites in disease models.
