Anti-SLC16A1 Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets SLC16A1, also known as monocarboxylate transporter 1 (MCT1), a 12-transmembrane-domain protein that mediates proton-linked transport of lactate, pyruvate, and ketone bodies across the plasma membrane. Supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated antisera, the reagent is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications on human and mouse samples.

MCT1 biology: SLC16A1 works in tandem with the chaperone basigin (CD147) for proper cell-surface expression and is broadly studied in cancer metabolism (the Warburg effect), skeletal muscle lactate clearance, astrocyte–neuron lactate shuttling in brain, and renal rehydration of filtered monocarboxylates. The expected band in Western blot migrates near 54 kDa, the predicted molecular weight of the human SLC16A1 polypeptide, while immunohistochemistry reveals membranous and cytoplasmic staining patterns in epithelial and muscle tissues.
