This polyclonal antibody targets SHP-2 (Src homology 2 domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase 2), a non-receptor tyrosine phosphatase encoded by the PTPN11 gene that participates in signal transduction downstream of receptor tyrosine kinases, cytokine receptors, and integrin engagement. SHP-2 is broadly expressed across tissues and acts as a key modulator of RAS/MAPK pathway activation, while also contributing to context-dependent regulation of JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT, and PD-1 immune checkpoint signaling.

The immunogen corresponds to a region surrounding residue 542 of the SHP-2 protein. The reagent is raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated preparation in a 100 µl volume, allowing direct integration into standard immunodetection workflows. Cross-species reactivity has been confirmed against human, mouse, and rat samples, making it suitable for translational studies that span cell line panels and primary tissue material.

Validated applications include Western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF). These formats support mapping of total SHP-2 expression, subcellular distribution, and downstream pathway analysis in both fixed and lysed specimens. The antibody is widely used by groups researching Noonan syndrome and LEOPARD syndrome (the germline PTPN11 mutation disorders collectively known as RASopathies), as well as cancer cell signaling, hematopoiesis, and immune checkpoint biology, where SHP-2 function is a frequent focus of drug discovery efforts.

Distributed by Antibodies.com as part of their primary antibody portfolio, this reagent is intended for research use only and pairs well with the supplier's broader collection of phospho-specific and pathway-focused antibodies.
