Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG) is a liver-derived glycoprotein that regulates the bioavailability of circulating testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, and estradiol. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the SHBG protein in human and mouse samples and is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol.

Validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry, the unconjugated reagent leaves the choice of secondary detection chemistry and amplification system to the researcher. A polyclonal reagent increases the likelihood of binding across multiple epitopes, which is helpful when probing denatured lysates in WB or fixed tissue sections in IHC. Validated reactivity with both human and mouse orthologs makes this a practical reagent for translational studies that compare clinical specimens with rodent models of androgen or estrogen signaling imbalance.

The 50% glycerol buffer keeps the antibody liquid and functional at sub-zero storage, while sodium azide serves as a microbial preservative during repeated benchtop use. For long projects, aliquoting helps limit freeze-thaw cycles, and light-protected vials maintain reagent stability across many experiments.
