This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against human SETMAR, a chimeric chromatin-associated protein that fuses a SET-domain histone methyltransferase with a mariner-family transposase. SETMAR, also known as Metnase, supports non-homologous end joining, assists in the processing of DNA double-strand breaks, and methylates histone H3 at specific lysine residues to help maintain chromosomal stability.

Shipped as 100 µl of unconjugated rabbit antiserum, the reagent is validated for Western Blot (WB) and Immunofluorescence (IF) on human samples. The polyclonal format broadens epitope coverage compared with a monoclonal reagent, which is helpful when probing low-abundance chromatin fractions or partially degraded lysates from nuclear extracts.

Typical uses include profiling SETMAR expression across cell-line panels, tracking its recruitment to laser-induced DNA damage foci, and following changes in associated histone methylation marks after genotoxic stress. Because the antibody is unconjugated, it can be paired with a user-selected fluorophore, biotin, or HRP secondary reagent to fit custom imaging and detection workflows.
