Anti-SETD8 Antibody

This polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit against SETD8 and is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% Sodium Azide and 50% Glycerol. It has been validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) and reacts with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.

The immunogen was recombinant full length Human SETD8, and the antibody detects endogenous levels of SETD8 protein. Affinity purification using epitope-specific immunogen produced a purity greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

SETD8 is a protein-lysine N-methyltransferase that monomethylates both histones and non-histone proteins. It specifically monomethylates 'Lys-20' of histone H4 (H4K20me1), a modification enriched during mitosis that serves as a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression. SETD8 mainly functions in euchromatin regions, contributing to the silencing of euchromatic genes, and is required for cell proliferation. It is involved in chromosome condensation and proper cytokinesis, with nucleosomes preferred as substrate over free histones. SETD8 also mediates monomethylation of p53/TP53 at 'Lys-382', leading to repression of p53/TP53-target genes. The molecular weight of the target is approximately 43 kDa.
