The SERPING1 protein (serpin family G member 1), more commonly known as C1-inhibitor, is a heavily glycosylated plasma serine protease inhibitor that serves as a master regulator of the classical and lectin complement pathways, the contact activation system, and intrinsic coagulation. This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against recombinant SERPING1 and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antibody at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, ready for direct use in western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.

C1-inhibitor is best known clinically for its link to hereditary angioedema, where loss-of-function mutations in SERPING1 cause episodic, bradykinin-mediated swelling, but the same protein is now investigated in broader contexts including vascular permeability, endothelial barrier function, ischemia-reperfusion injury, sepsis-related complement dysregulation, and neuroinflammation. Researchers studying these areas use polyclonal anti-SERPING1 reagents to detect the native plasma glycoprotein (~105 kDa) and tissue-expressed SERPING1 by western blot, and to localize expression in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections by IHC. The unconjugated format allows secondary antibody flexibility across fluorescence, chromogenic, and amplification-based detection chemistries.

Store the vial refrigerated at 4°C for short-term use, or aliquot and freeze at -20°C for long-term storage; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity. Each lot is quality-controlled for reactivity against the immunogen, and the polyclonal nature of the reagent provides recognition of multiple epitopes on SERPING1, which is advantageous when probing denatured targets on membranes.
