The polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets SERPINF1, the gene encoding Pigment Epithelium-Derived Factor (PEDF), a secreted serpin-family glycoprotein with potent anti-angiogenic and neurotrophic activity. Produced in rabbit and supplied as a 100 µl unconjugated aliquot, the reagent is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples.

PEDF/SERPINF1 antagonizes VEGF-driven vascularization and supports survival of neurons under oxidative stress, and the protein is heavily expressed in retinal pigment epithelium, hepatocytes, adipocytes, and a variety of tumor lines. Researchers working on age-related macular degeneration, choroidal neovascularization, diabetic retinopathy, tumor angiogenesis, and metabolic disease models commonly use this reagent to track expression patterns and correlate levels with disease progression.

For IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin sections, citrate-based antigen retrieval at pH 6.0 works well, and on Western blot the antibody recognizes a band near 46–50 kDa in lysates from HepG2, HUVEC, and mouse retinal tissue. For best results, refrigerate the vial upon arrival and aliquot into smaller portions to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Polyclonal specificity across multiple species makes this reagent useful for both expression mapping and comparative studies of serpin biology in ophthalmology, oncology, and metabolism research.
