This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets SERPINB1, a cytoplasmic serine protease inhibitor (serpin) also referred to as monocyte/neutrophil elastase inhibitor (MNEI). Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated antisera, it is validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence workflows and shows reactivity against human, mouse, and rat samples.

SERPINB1 is best known for restraining the activity of neutrophil elastase, cathepsin G, and proteinase-3, thereby limiting excessive proteolysis during innate immune responses. Researchers use it to study neutrophil-mediated inflammation, airway injury relevant to conditions such as emphysema and COPD, host defense against bacterial infection, and the regulation of cellular survival under proteotoxic stress.

Because the target resides in the cytoplasm, IF-based detection typically relies on permeabilized cells or tissue sections, while WB readily resolves the protein in cell lysates. The unconjugated format gives labs flexibility to pair it with HRP, fluorophore, or biotin secondaries of their own choosing, supporting chromogenic and fluorescence-based detection.
