The SERPINA1 antibody from Antibodies.com is a rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against human alpha-1 antitrypsin, supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a 100 µl aliquot.

SERPINA1 encodes the serine protease inhibitor alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT), a major circulating antiprotease that protects tissues, particularly the lungs, from neutrophil elastase-mediated damage. Deficiency or dysfunction of SERPINA1 is linked to early-onset emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and certain hepatic disorders, making reliable detection of the protein important in research on protease-antiprotease balance, inflammatory lung conditions, and liver pathology.

This unconjugated reagent reacts with human SERPINA1 and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications. The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of recognizing multiple epitopes on the target, supporting consistent detection across denatured Western blot samples and fixed tissue sections. Researchers commonly use it to probe AAT expression in patient-derived samples and cell-based models of protease-related disease.

Storage at -20°C in the glycerol-containing buffer preserves antibody activity for long-term use; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles and aliquot upon receipt if the reagent will be used over an extended period. The 100 µl volume provides ample material for multiple Western blot and immunohistochemistry experiments.
