The SERPINA1 target encodes alpha-1 antitrypsin, a 52 kDa serine protease inhibitor best known for neutralizing neutrophil elastase in the lower respiratory tract. Antibodies.com supplies this reagent as a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against SERPINA1, validated for Western blot across human, mouse, and rat samples.

The antibody is provided unconjugated in a 100 µl volume at 1 mg/ml, prepared in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a stabilizing cryoprotectant. Sodium azide acts as a preservative, while glycerol supports storage at -20 °C without freezing solid. Researchers investigating alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, hepatic protein misfolding, or neutrophil-driven tissue damage can detect the endogenous protein via immunoblotting of cell or tissue lysates.

Cross-reactivity spans three species commonly used in pulmonary and hepatic disease models, including human clinical samples, murine knockout or transgenic lines, and rat injury models. Expected band size for the mature, secreted glycoprotein lies near 52 kDa, though higher-molecular-weight aggregates can appear in patient samples carrying the pathogenic Z allele associated with classical alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.
