PP2A is a ubiquitously expressed serine/threonine phosphatase that counterbalances kinase activity across hundreds of substrates, with the beta isoform (PPP2CB) partnering with regulatory A and B subunits to form trimeric holoenzymes that govern cell division, apoptosis, and stress responses. Loss or dysregulation of PPP2CB is studied in oncogenesis, neurodegeneration, and cardiac signaling, making isoform-specific detection relevant for pathway research.
