P-selectin (gene name SELP, also known as CD62P, GMP-140, or PADGEM) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that resides in Weibel-Palade bodies of vascular endothelial cells and in alpha-granules of resting platelets. Upon cellular activation by agonists such as thrombin, histamine, or inflammatory cytokines, P-selectin is rapidly redistributed to the plasma membrane, where it binds PSGL-1 on leukocytes to initiate the tethering and rolling steps of the adhesion cascade.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was generated against SELP and is validated for Western blot detection of the endogenous protein in human, mouse, and rat samples. Each vial contains 100 µl of reagent at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH approximately 7.2, with 15 mM sodium azide added as a microbial preservative.

The reagent supports protein-level characterization of P-selectin expression in research settings including vascular inflammation, atherothrombosis, sickle cell vaso-occlusion, sepsis-related endothelial activation, and tumor cell extravasation models, where altered SELP surface presentation or granule release is being investigated by Western blot.
