Anti-SECISBP2 Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets SECISBP2, the selenocysteine insertion sequence-binding protein 2 that recognizes SECIS elements in the 3' untranslated region of selenoprotein mRNAs. SECISBP2 is required for co-translational insertion of selenocysteine at UGA codons, and loss-of-function variants in the gene have been linked in published case studies to abnormal circulating thyroid hormone patterns together with a broad defect in selenoprotein synthesis affecting glutathione peroxidases, thioredoxin reductases, and iodothyronine deiodinases.

The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum raised in rabbit, validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence on human samples, and is intended for research use only. The protein shows a predominantly nuclear distribution in many cell types, consistent with its role in ribonucleoprotein assembly, making the antibody useful for studies of selenocysteine incorporation, redox biology, and the molecular pathology of SECISBP2 deficiency.
