This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets SDHA, the flavoprotein subunit A of succinate dehydrogenase (mitochondrial respiratory Complex II). SDHA is anchored in the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate in the TCA cycle and feeds electrons into the ubiquinone pool of the electron transport chain. Because SDHA is nuclear-encoded, translated on cytosolic ribosomes, and imported into mitochondria via a cleavable presequence, its steady-state level is widely used as a readout of mitochondrial mass and integrity in basic research.

The reagent is raised in rabbit, unconjugated, and supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum, validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse samples. The mature SDHA protein migrates at approximately 73 kDa on SDS-PAGE, allowing clean resolution from common loading controls when probing whole-cell or mitochondrial-enriched lysates. Store the vial at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light to preserve antibody activity across multiple experiments.

SDHA biology is clinically and biologically relevant: germline SDHA mutations are linked to hereditary paraganglioma and pheochromocytoma syndromes as well as Leigh syndrome and other isolated mitochondrial respiratory chain deficiencies. Researchers therefore apply this antibody to investigate tumor metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation defects, mitochondrial biogenesis, and the metabolic rewiring observed in cancer and neurodegeneration models, often comparing patient-derived tissue with isogenic or knockdown controls.
