Syndecan-1 (also known as CD138) is a type I transmembrane heparan sulfate proteoglycan that participates in growth factor binding, cell–matrix adhesion, and the organization of the pericellular matrix. It is broadly expressed on epithelial cells and is widely used as a defining surface marker of terminally differentiated B cells, including normal plasma cells and the malignant plasma cells characteristic of multiple myeloma. The Antibodies.com Anti-SDC1 Antibody is a rabbit polyclonal reagent generated against this antigen and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples.

Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antisera, the reagent recognizes epitopes on the SDC1 core protein and can be deployed in studies of myeloma and lymphoma pathology, epithelial biology, and the proteolytic shedding of syndecan-1 ectodomain fragments that occurs during inflammation and tissue remodeling. The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple regions of the target, which is helpful when examining both the full-length transmembrane form and the soluble ectodomain fragments released from the cell surface.

As an unconjugated antibody, this reagent can be paired with enzyme-, biotin-, or fluorophore-labeled secondary antibodies to match common detection chemistries, from chemiluminescent Western blot membranes to chromogenic or fluorescent immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections. The human specificity of the reagent makes it a practical choice for translational research on myeloma biomarkers, epithelial–stromal interactions, and heparan sulfate-dependent signaling pathways.
