This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets secretin (SCT), a 27-amino acid peptide hormone synthesized by enteroendocrine S cells of the duodenal mucosa in response to acidic chyme. Secretin acts on G protein-coupled receptors in the pancreas to stimulate bicarbonate-rich fluid secretion, and it also modulates gastric acid release and osmoregulation, making the antigen relevant to gastrointestinal and pancreatic biology research.

Validated for Western blot (WB), the reagent is supplied as 100 µl in a single vial at approximately 1 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative, pH ~7.2. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes on the SCT precursor and mature hormone, and the antibody has been confirmed reactive against human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting translational studies across rodent models and human tissue.

Recommended handling includes short-term storage at 4 °C and long-term aliquoting to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles; the sodium azide content should be considered when planning live-cell or certain enzymatic downstream applications. Researchers studying incretin pathways, pancreatic ductal physiology, duodenal S cell lineage tracing, or secretin receptor signaling will find the unconjugated format flexible for pairing with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies in their existing Western blot workflows.
