SCARB1 (Scavenger Receptor Class B Member 1, also called SR-B1) is a cell-surface receptor that mediates selective uptake of cholesteryl esters from high-density lipoprotein (HDL). It plays a central role in lipid metabolism and is widely studied in cardiovascular, hepatic, adrenal, and reproductive biology research.

The recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl in a TBS buffer (pH 7.4) containing 1% BSA and 40% glycerol, with 0.05% sodium azide as preservative. The unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with secondary reagents or custom labelling strategies.

Validated for western blot, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry, the reagent detects endogenous SCARB1 in human, mouse, and rat samples. Cross-species reactivity supports comparative studies that combine patient-derived material with rodent disease models.

Typical research applications include mapping HDL-cholesterol uptake in hepatocytes and steroidogenic tissues, investigating SR-B1 expression in atherosclerosis and dyslipidaemia models, probing viral entry pathways where SCARB1 serves as an entry factor for hepatitis C virus, and characterising expression patterns in adrenal cortex, ovary, testis, and placental tissue.

The 40% glycerol formulation enables storage at -20 °C; aliquot on first use to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect the vial from light when not in use.
