Anti-S100A16 Antibody

S100A16, also referred to as AAGE, is a relatively recently characterized member of the S100 EF-hand calcium-binding protein family, encoded on chromosome 1q21. Unlike classical S100 proteins, it displays atypical, weakly cooperative calcium binding and a tendency to form homodimers and higher-order assemblies. Expression is widespread but particularly elevated in epithelial tissues, and the protein has been reported as upregulated across multiple solid tumours — including breast, lung, colorectal, and gastric carcinomas — where it has been investigated as a candidate diagnostic or prognostic marker.

Beyond oncology, S100A16 has been linked to adipogenesis, lipid metabolism, and insulin signalling, making it a target of interest in metabolic-disease research. The polyclonal format raises antibodies against multiple epitopes on the target, which can be useful when probing denatured lysates by WB or fixed sections by IHC.
