The polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets ribosomal protein S3 (RPS3), a highly conserved component of the small 40S ribosomal subunit. Beyond its canonical role in ribosome assembly and messenger RNA translation, RPS3 has been characterized as a multifunctional protein with extraribosomal activities, including DNA repair through its endonuclease activity, regulation of apoptosis via NF-κB signaling pathways, and involvement in transcriptional control. Researchers commonly deploy this reagent to investigate protein synthesis mechanisms, ribosomal biogenesis, and cellular stress responses across mammalian systems.

Produced in rabbit hosts and supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the unconjugated antibody is provided as 100 µl of stock solution. The reagent has been validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence applications, and it cross-reacts with samples derived from human, mouse, and rat tissues. Sodium azide acts as a preservative; storage at -20 °C in single-use aliquots is recommended to preserve activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

For immunohistochemistry, antigen retrieval conditions and working dilutions should be empirically optimized for each specimen type. The polyclonal format enables recognition of multiple epitopes on RPS3, providing robust signal under denaturing western blot conditions while also supporting native-state detection in fixed tissue sections. This makes the reagent a flexible tool for studies of ribosomal dysfunction in cancer, neurodegeneration, and cellular stress models.
