Rpb1, the largest catalytic subunit of RNA Polymerase II encoded by the POLR2A gene, is the target of this rabbit polyclonal antibody supplied by Antibodies.com. The antibody recognizes endogenous Rpb1 protein and is suited to studies of active transcription, since the C-terminal domain (CTD) of Rpb1 carries heptad repeats whose phosphorylation state reports on initiation, promoter-proximal pausing, and productive elongation during mRNA synthesis.

The unconjugated reagent is provided as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% Sodium Azide and 50% glycerol, giving cryoprotective stability for routine cold storage. Validated applications include western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunocytochemistry (ICC), and immunofluorescence (IF) on human, mouse, and rat samples. The polyclonal format binds multiple epitopes, which can be helpful when a single epitope is masked by post-translational modification or fixative crosslinking.

Typical workflows include profiling RNA Pol II occupancy in chromatin immunoprecipitation lysates, tracking transcriptional changes during cell differentiation and stress responses, and examining POLR2A expression in cancer models where chromosome 17p copy number is altered.
