Resistin (RETN) is a 12.5 kDa cysteine-rich secreted peptide implicated in insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and chronic low-grade inflammation. In humans, the protein is expressed predominantly by peripheral blood mononuclear cells and macrophages rather than adipocytes, distinguishing human biology from rodent models where adipose tissue is the dominant source. The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes along the resistin backbone, supporting robust signal across varied sample preparations and reducing the impact of minor epitope masking.
