Renin is a critical aspartyl protease that catalyzes the rate-limiting step of the renin-angiotensin system, converting angiotensinogen to angiotensin I and thereby influencing blood pressure regulation, electrolyte balance, and cardiovascular homeostasis. The preproprotein form carries an N-terminal signal peptide that directs the nascent chain to the secretory pathway before proteolytic cleavage produces the mature circulating enzyme.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com recognizes the human Renin preproprotein and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, supporting detection of the target in tissue sections and lysate preparations. Supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum, it is intended for research use only and reacts specifically with human samples, enabling studies of renin expression in renal juxtaglomerular cells, adrenal tissue, and pathological contexts such as hypertension, diabetes-associated nephropathy, and tumor models in which local RAS activity has been implicated.
